This is our new Community Forum. You can login via Facebook, Google, or even anonymously via email (you don't have to share your real name when you create an account with your email). Our hope is that you use this Forum to post your questions as a parent of a child experiencing a mental health issue. And if you have an experience or an idea to share, your comment will help others. Our goal is that together, we can help all parents and care givers know that they are not alone, and that there is a community here to help.
Please share any other tips for families experiencing school refusal or transitions back. From PACER: Mental health resource: school refusal Returning to school after a break can be difficult, especially for children and youth with mental health challenges. For some children it is like starting another first day of school. The expectations that go with returning to school can be overwhelming: Will I remember what I was taught before break? Will I still have problems with some of my classmates? Will I get behind on classwork/homework again? For some children, but especially those with ongoing mental health challenges, the anticipation of returning to school can escalate emotions.
